After a 21-year hiatus, the group reunited February 11, 2007 as the opening act at the 49th Grammy Awards. The next day their 2007 tour was announced, and a Live Earth performance in July of 2007 was expected as well. Members of the band include Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. Henry Padovani is a former member of the group, replaced by Summers in 1977.
Sting's writing ability was strong from the start, as he spent a stint as a secondary school English teacher. As one of the first white bands to adopt reggae as their predominant musical style, The Police joined The Clash with bringing the genre to the mainstream in the United States and other countries outside of the UK. Their first hit "Roxanne" is what landed them a record deal. As Sting began to become more popular, the relationships within the band deteriorated and he continued a successful solo career.

The Police will play a live Fan Club show in Vancouver before they begin their world tour in that same city. This surprising news comes as a pleasant tonic to Police fans in that part of the world, but the rest of us will have to continue the hunt for Police tickets. The Fan Club gig takes place on Sunday May 27 in Vancouver, British Columbia at GM Place at 7:30 pm local time.
The Police Tour Fan Club members are considered by far the band's most loyal supporters and they have waited over 23 years to see the band, let's face it! The band have devised this excellent way to say thank you to the fan club for their dedication and patience over the decades. Only specific sections of GM Place will be open for the Police concert, so the event will be as intimate as possible. We can only imagine what this show will be like, unless of course we obtain Police tickets for ourselves, and manage to actually see the band in the flesh.
