Bringing the audience into the holiday spirit, the special effects, Christmas-themed music and dancing favor the Radio City Rockettes, the shining gem in the Radio City performance. The show has taken to travelling to many cities across the country, with the Broadway production running for six weeks between early November and December 30.
The first show started in 1933 as a performance between movie showings, and expanded in 1979 to become its own attraction. New technology expanded the show, such as a 3-D movie that opens the Spectacular. The movie shows Santa Claus in his magic sleigh flying by a number of New York attractions, including the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building. Once arriving at Radio City, the show truly begins. "I See Christmas Everywhere" is the Rockette's newest number, which is followed by scenes from The Nutcracker and The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and a medley of dance numbers. The 2007 season is the 75th year for the performance.
