The concert included songs from the film, and included cast members Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman and Vanessa Anne Hudgens. The omission of Zak Efron was because of his involvement in the musical "Hairspray" on Broadway. Drew Seeley took his place. Seeley co-wrote the songs "Get'cha Head in the Game" and sang on the soundtrack.
The two-and-a-half hour concert ends similarly to the film, with a large picture of the Wildcat. After the release of High School Musical 2, the cast is again expected to go on tour to promote the film. Each of the stars on the tour had breakout moments in which some performed their own solo material. The soundtrack was the No. 1 selling album of the year for 2006 for a time, and the first to make it to the No. 1 slot on Billboard's Top 200. Nearly 100 million people have seen High School Musical.
