Clapton has been entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times, and was ranked by Rolling Stone as No. 4 on the list of the greatest guitarists of all time. With a musical style rooted in blues, he has innovated a number of musical movements and influenced blues-rock and psychedelic rock. Formerly a member of John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, The Yardbirds, Derek and the Dominoes, Dirty Mac, and Cream, Clapton has left his mark on the charts for over four decades. He has achieved chart success in the genres of Delta Blues, pop and even reggae.

Clapton was raised by his grandparents in Canada, and after learning that they were in fact not his real parents at age 13, a defining point in his life came about. Clapton has dealt with alcoholism and heroin addiction, and he founded The Crossroads Centre as a rehab facility in Antigua. Long successful with his solo career, his life has been fraught with tragedy, both the death of his son from a fall from a hotel window, and the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan and two members of their road crew in a plane crash. His 2006 tour included members of the Allmann Brothers Band.
