Griesar no longer tours with the band, as he left in 1993. Butch Taylor has worked with the band as a keyboardist regularly, though he is not officially a member of Dave Matthews Band. Trumpet player Rashawn Ross joined the band in 2006, playing Soulive and will possibly be a permanent fixture.
The band's first gig was on the rooftop of a pink warehouse in Charlottesville, and since then has been touring the world with some regularity. They saw their first breakthrough success after the release of their first LP, Under the Table and Dreaming. "What Would You Say," "Satellite" and "Ants Marching" were all hits and the follow up album Crash brought more national attention. By 1997 the band had hit the mainstream, and since has had success. A new studio album, Dave Matthews Band's seventh, is expected for 2007. The band allows live taping of their shows, something to which they attribute their success.
