Her debut album Christina in 1999 brought her critical as well as commercial acclaim. She also put out a Latin pop album called Mi Reflejo and My Kind of Christmas which were both successful in sales. Her second album Stripped in 2002 received mixed reviews, many were critical of her blatant sexuality. Her third and most recent album, Back to Basics in 2006 combined soul, jazz and blues and was a two-disc release that was well-received critically and did well with sales. It was a more mature sounding release. Over her career, Aguilera has earned five Grammys after being nominated 16 times. She has sold over 30 million worldwide in album sales.

With "Genie in a Bottle," "What a Girl Wants," "Come on Over Baby," "Beautiful" and the remake of the song "Lady Marmalade," Aguilera was on the road to the top. After changing her bubble gum pop image to the darker, sexier XTina, a more mature Aguilera is emerging, bringing back the 1920s to 1920s glamour look.
